Why Do we Assign Memory Work?
Christians throughout the centuries have anchored their lives on the Word of God. God's Word has the power to speak to us, direct us, and comfort us regardless of our circumstances. Our culture may change, our relationships may change, our work may change, but God's Word for us is constant. When we make the effort to read, study, and yes, memorize passages of scripture - to inwardly digest them - they build an eternal foundation of hope and promise for our lives. The electricity may fail, our hand-held devices may go dead, our personal life may be in ruins, but God's gracious word is there. It is implanted in our memory and our heart and IT WILL NOT FAIL! When we are sad and lonely, filled with doubt and worry, grieving or angry, the Holy Spirit stirs up our thoughts and we fall back upon the one sure thing - THE GRACE OF GOD. Consider Memory Work as a lifelong blessing that will enrich your life through the decades to come. Jesus, your Savior, wants to accompany you through every step of your life. Pray that He will always be your companion.
